At some point in history between present day and the time in which LYCCYX takes place, the United States becomes part of the United Continents.  This was a highly controversial move by the US Government in response to a failing economy brought on by years of war. 

In Episode 2, we will explore this in further detail and why Stephan believes he is justified in his actions due to what he felt was a betrayal to the American people.
