In arguably one of the most powerful scenes in Christopher and Jonathan Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, Selena Kyle urges Batman to leave the city of Gotham behind in order to save himself.

“You’ve given this city everything.” She says.

“Not everything, not yet.” He replies. Bruce Wayne is prepared to give everything to save his city.

Anything worth having in life will cost us something. The greatest things in life cost everything.

There is a price to pay, a sacrifice we all must make to move forward in life.

Whether it is the long hours and long commutes often required of modern professionals or the pain and discomfort of bringing a new life into the world, one thing is certain – sacrifice is part of life.

The good news is: every sacrifice leads to reward.

Hard work and preparation lead to provision and success.

We must ask ourselves, “Are the things I’m living for worth the sacrifices others have made?”
